Helsinki Sail Racing Management
For more than 50 years, the sailing clubs of Helsinki have cooperated to organize major regattas. The yearly Helsinki regatta event, usually taking place at the end of June and including 10 – 15 classes on five course areas is the most visible result of that cooperation. To improve their capability of managing major events, seven Helsinki-based clubs in 2008 formed a joint organisation, Helsinki Sail Racing Management (HSRM). HSRM with the strong support of the City of Helsinki applied for the ISAF World Championships in 2011, this time however, another continent was selected. In 2009, HSRM organized the Finnish Youth Championships for several classes and in 2010 Helsinki and HSRM will host the Nordic Youth Championships. In 2011, the Olympic classes will come to Helsinki for their Open European Championships.

Open European Championships 2011
Preparations for the huge Open Europeans event are accelerating. HSRM, its member clubs and all the sailing community in Finland is gearing up to host this event in July 2011. The City of Helsinki has committed to prepare the infrastructure for the event, this will allow for all classes to be based in the same area, close to the centre of Helsinki. Significant resources will be put into ensuring adequate media coverage of this unique event. This HSRM site will be continuously updated to give prospective participants all the information they need on the event, the City of Helsinki and the connections between Europe and Finland.
