Open Europeans
Newsletter September
Dear Friends,
This week we had a meeting for commodores and race officers in Helsinki. The discussions we had with the volunteers were interesting and the questions arisen showed us how dedicated people already are. Next step is to arrange workshops during the Sailing Days taking place in November. This is arranged in co-operation with the Finnish Sailing Federation.
We want to remind you and the sailors to make travel plans and bookings in time. July is the most popular holiday season in Scandinavia and the ferries from Sweden, Estonia and Germany to Finland will be fully booked next summer. Booking early often gives you a discount. Please notice the hotel offer we have for Scandic hotels in Helsinki. Booking not later than April 22nd with the booking code BSAI110711 gives you a room at a very attractive rate. There are several hotels to choose among. The hotels are well equipped with health and fitness as important issues for them. Therefore you will find a gym, relaxing departments and healthy food in the hotel. Useful links for planning your trip to Helsinki are:
The official site for the Open Europeans 2011 will be using Sail Racer as a platform. The first idea of what the site will look like has been presented to the organising committee. We are pleased with what we have seen so far. It will not take long before we can launch the site. Until then check www.helsinkisailracing.fi for updates.
Kurt Lönnqvist, President of the Event, Lars Nyqvist, Race Officer of the Event, Bengt Gustafsson, Chief of Measurement & Inspection and Georg Tallberg, Match expert, will meet the class representatives in Athens November 5th. Take advantage of the opportunity to meet them. Together we will make these Championships the greatest ever in Finland.
Looking forward to see you in Helsinki next summer!
Kurt Lönnqvist
President
